1970, Dr. Carl Furhman was recognized in Pittsburgh Magazine. He works at UPMC Hospital and was named the best 'diagnostic radiology' doctor by the magazine. See the details at www.wqed.org/mag/features/0508/top_docs.php

1974, Gary Cooper and his wife, Judy, welcomed daughter Emma Grace on May 15, 2009. She weighed 8lbs. 7oz. and was 22 inches long. Gary is the maintenance supervisor here at Prep.
1977, Vic Savelli has joined GAP Broadcasting Group in the newly created post of EVP/Digital Media. He will oversee digital and new media operations for GAP Broadcasting and GAPWEST. Savelli was most recently VP/Interactive Sales for the Dallas Morning News, where he oversaw DallasNews.com and the employment-ad sales division for both the paper and the website. Before joining the Morning News, he was Regional Director of Sales/Texas & Eastern U.S. for Belo Interactive.
1983, James Brunk was recently promoted to a new leadership role as Mohawk Industries, Inc. corporate controller and principal accounting officer. Mohawk is the worldwide leader in the production and distribution of flooring products. Brunk will lead corporate accounting and financial reporting, accounting systems, and shared services while also partnering with Divisional CFOs in support of the business units. Brunk joined Mohawk in October 2006, as Mohawk Home’s Chief Financial Officer. He lives in the Atlanta area with is wife, Michele and daughters Amanda and Samantha.

1986, Paul Kelvington recently became a licensed social worker and certified drug and alcohol counselor in the state of Illinois. In addition, he just took the position of Director of Psychiatric Services for Somerset Place Nursing Home, a facility for the chronically mentally ill. Kelvington is also in the running to be an adjunct faculty member at Loyola University Chicago, where he received both his undergrad and Master's degrees in Social Work.

1995, Justin Izbicki and his wife, Amy Kosmack Izbicki, welcomed their son, Lucas Patrick on May 10, 2008. He was 20.5 inches and weighed 7lbs. Izbicki coaches JV basketball here at Prep. We apologize to the Izbicki’s for the misprint that was made in the spring magazine.

1995, Tom Laird was named head coach of the Harbor Creek girls basketball program. Laird is the senior vice president at Telatron Marketing and spent the past two years as the head coach at Our Lady of Peace. OLP won the league title for the first time in 30 years two years ago and advanced to the state championship before losing. Laird also spent time as the coach at St. George and was an assistant coach at Central Tech for four years.

1997, Anthony Allegretto and his wife, Linda, welcomed their second child, Maria Lynn on April 4, 2009. Maria weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Maria joins her big brother Anthony II who turned two in September.

1997, Corey Ferraro and his wife, Julie, are the proud parents of daughter Theresa Anne who was born on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Theresa weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. She joins big brother Michael who will be three years old in December. Corey is a theology teacher here at Prep.

1998, Mike Carroll won the title of National Beach Wrestling Champ at the U.S. Beach World Teams Trials in Rochester, N.Y. in July. He refereed the competition last year and thought that he would enter the competition to see what would happen. Last year he took second place. This year he entered and took first place.

1998, Ryan Postas married Steffinnie Phrommany in Sioux Falls, S.D. on May 09, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral. Neil Postas, Ryan’s dad, served as his best man. Timothy Dougherty ‘98 was a groomsman. Postas is the CEO of his own production company, Elevated Minds Entertainment.

2001, Ben Dougherty ’01 and Amy Yakish’s (VMA ’01) wedding could go down in Prep history as the wedding with the most Prepsters present. The couple married on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Our Lady of Peace Church in Erie. A reception was held the following day at Nick’s Place in Edinboro. The couple resides in Millcreek. 2002, William Rupp has been studying at the Byzantine Catholic Seminary of SS. Cyril and Methodius near Pittsburgh. On March 25, 2009 he was ordained a subdeacon for the Byzantine Catholic Church. He was ordained a deacon on May 3.

2002, Adam Braham recently took a new job as a Director in the Investment Grade Credit Sales team at Knight Libertas in New York City.

2003, David Hauser graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Neuroscience. While at Pitt, he worked for UPMC researching Parkinson’s Disease. Hauser was recently accepted to Brown University where he will pursue his Ph.D.

2004, Nicholas Lopez graduated from West Point Airborne School in spring of 2009 and went on to ranger training.

2008, Mark Blazek was named to the Hartwick College Dean’s List for the Spring Term 2009.
