Most notable events: 

  • Installation of Bishop Persico
  • Honor Guard at Pennsylvania Governor’s Award event
  • Presentation of Colors at Cleveland Indians game
  • Only local JROTC unit selected to march in the Perry 200 Parade
  • Competed at JROTC National Drill and Color Guard competition in Daytona Beach, FL
  • Became competitive in all aspects of Drill and Color Guard at the various drill and color guard competitions at which we competed
  • Received the Outstanding Unit Award from HQ Air Force Junior ROTC
  • Began the year with 78 cadets enrolled (highest since the corps 1st year)
  • On track with spring scheduling to have 85 cadets enrolled on the first day of classes for AY 2013-14
  • Continued strong financial support from the American Legion at a time when Air Force funding has become scarce due to budget sequestration


Notable planned events for 2013-2014: 

  • World-class instruction in Global and Cultural Studies for 9th and 10th grade enrolled cadets
  • Completion of a 3-position flight simulation lab in room 407
  • Celebration of Prep’s 20 years of AF JROTC
  • 4-day (18 hr) orientation course for incoming JROTC cadets to be conducted in June
  • 3-day (13 hr) marksmanship safety and orientation course
  • We want to establish competitive teams for
    • CyberPatriot – national competition amongst high school and college teams involving the complexities of cyber security
    • Marksmanship – postal challenges
    • Academic Challenge – advance past level 2
  • Continue the award of college credits for cadet of the quarter honorees
  • Establish a memorial award for outstanding drill/color guard team member to be presented at the spring awards assembly
